Donald Trump continues to celebrate the Indian half of his political rival Kamala Harris’s identity and that’s a problem. Harris, born to Shyamala Gopalan from Chennai and Donald Harris from Saint Ann Parish, Jamaica, has long embraced her biracial roots.
Cooking Indian food with Mindy Kaling, who is of Indian heritage, Harris told the American actress, “You look like the entire one half of my family.” Having chosen Howard, one of America’s oldest institutions in the category of Historically Black Colleges and Universities, Harris has spoken about her divorced mother’s very deliberate “choice of community” for her and her younger sister Maya. “She had two Black babies, and she raised them to be two Black women,” Harris said.
