I can understand the angst of some when arguments are made to consider the reality that the people of Gaza are people like us. They start quoting the Hamas charter, which calls to end the state of Israel and say that Israel, like any other country, has no choice but to destroy Hamas. That's fair. But to try and destroy a whole people in the process? We know of too many cases like that from history. As I wrote in my original piece, no legal or political reasoning can erase the reality of what is happening in full view of the world in the 21st century.
